Developing children’s knowledge of significant pieces of music is an important part of their education at Parkfield Primary School. As a result, we have a 2 year cycle of assembly music which is played for the children to listen to as they enter and leave assembly. Where possible a video of an orchestra playing these pieces is shown on the Interactive Whiteboard to support pupils understanding of the music and the parts played by each section of the orchestra.
The information below gives a flavour of the range of music that pupils’ will learn about each half tem.
At lunchtime our pupils listen to a range of music during their dinner. This promotes a more relaxed atmosphere whilst eating and allows pupils to listen to some of their favourite songs and also appreciate some favourites from the past. The playlist below shows the range of music that the children listen to each half term.
