Vision

Design and technology at Parkfield will develop pupils’ creativity and imagination, as they design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they will develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. High-quality design and technology education will ensure our pupils are equipped to make an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the nation.

Curriculum Coverage

DT is generally taught during a DT week once a term. Pupils will spend up to a number of lessons that week working on that particular topic and have a substantial amount of time to complete some high quality work. We feel this approach really engages the children, creates a lot of excitement in the classroom and improves the quality of work produced by the children.

We feel cookery and nutrition is vitally important to our Parkfielders and as a result each DT week also includes a day where pupils design, make and evaluate a recipe. This gives our pupils the opportunity to design and make three recipes a year and a total of 21 as a Parkfielder.
