Poetry
Overview
At Parkfield we immerse our pupils in a wide range of poetry, both classical and modern. Pupils will use high quality poetry as stimuli for their own poetry writing. Our Parkfielders will learn poems by heart and perform these using the Six Ps (Punctuation, Pace, Passion, Pause, Pitch, Power) of fluent reading.
Poetry allows children to play with language and find new ways to communicate. We prioritise poetry within our English curriculum and children at Parkfield will study or learn at least one poem every half term.
